Caring for Knoxville families for four generations.

Three chapels — Fountain City, Halls, and Powell. The same family answering the phone, day or night, since the year your great-grandparents were children.

If you have just experienced a loss,
please call. We will answer.

A licensed funeral director is awake, listening, and ready to help you take the next small step — at any hour.

A funeral is not a transaction. It is a moment a family will remember for the rest of their lives. We treat it that way, every time.

Our family

Four generations.
One quiet promise.

In 1900, Ernest Mynatt sold his first casket out of the back of a hardware store in Halls Crossroads. He built it himself, from yellow pine.

His son Kyle turned that small trade into the Fountain City chapel that still stands on Rennoc Road. Bud Coomer, Ronald Hill, and Mary married into the family and never left. Today Buddy Coomer, Angie Hill, and the rest of the family are still here — fifty-seven of us, in three chapels across Knox County. None of us call this a job.

Where to find us.

What we offer

A service for every family,
arranged the way you want it.

From the most traditional to the simplest cremation. Nothing is added that you did not ask for. Nothing is left out that matters.

Pre-planning

Most families who plan ahead
say the conversation itself helped.

Planning a funeral in advance is one of the kindest things you can do for the people you love. It removes a hundred small decisions from a day that will already be hard.

There is no cost to sit with us. No paperwork is signed unless you ask. We will come to your kitchen table if that is easier.

Families we have served

In their words.

"We are not in the business of selling funerals. We are in the business of being there when a family needs us."

— Buddy Coomer, fourth-generation owner
Grief support

The work of grief
does not end on the day of the service.

Two certified Grief Recovery Specialists are on staff. A free support group meets the second Tuesday of every month at our Fountain City chapel — open to anyone, regardless of whether we served your family.
